“You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth."
—Kahlil Gibran
What is "The Parenting Game" and how do parents play it? How can you effectively join the ranks of parents who have successfully raised a child who eventually became a resourceful, resilient and compassionate adult—and avoid the pitfalls of those whose children did not have those qualities.
Most of all, how can you and your child get through the stages of your child's development in one piece?
Whether you are the parent of a new baby and are just beginning to realize you're facing one of the world's most important challenges, or whether you've been raising children for some time now and are struggling to discover how to survive the daily battles of balancing work and home, I suggest you first get a broad understanding of what it means to be a confident and effective parent by seeing the process as one I call "The Parenting Game."
Also, these articles will help you create a parenting game plan that can make a significant difference in the "outcome" of the game, especially if you get started early. But as you can also discover in Strategies for Raising Resourceful, Resilient and Compassionate Children and the series of articles on What Do You Teach Your Children When..., it is never too late to change the way you play the game.
